The Rancher Cap is our warmest traditional wool cap, built for serious winter weather. Compared with the Original Stormy Kromer Cap, it features 200-gram Thinsulate™ insulation in the crown and longer fleece-lined earbands for added warmth and coverage. When the earbands are pulled down, they fully cover your ears and extend farther down the neck.
-
Yes. The Rancher Cap's extended earbands fully cover your ears when pulled down and provide additional coverage at the back of the neck.

The Rancher Cap is built for people who put warmth and function first. With 200-gram Thinsulate™ insulation, fleece-lined earbands, and extended coverage, it's made for those who spend real time outdoors in the cold. Whether you're ice fishing, snow blowing, working outside, or simply refuse to let winter slow you down, the Rancher is built to keep you comfortable in harsh conditions.
-
No. The Rancher Cap is lined with soft cotton flannel, and the sweatband is made from a comfortable polycotton blend. The earbands are lined with fleece, so the wool outer shell never sits directly against your skin.
-
Use a soft tape measure to measure around your head where you like your hat to sit. Divide that measurement by 3.14 (π), then round up to the nearest 1/8. This is your Stormy Kromer hat size. If you don't have a tape measure, you can also use a piece of string and measure it against a ruler. Please remember that these hats generally do not stretch over time. If your measurement falls between sizes, or if you prefer a looser fit, we recommend sizing up.
-
Dry cleaning is the best way to care for your Rancher Cap. For small spills or stains, spot cleaning is often enough. If your cap gets wet from rain or snow, let it air dry naturally away from direct heat or sunlight. Never put your wool cap in the dryer, as the heat can cause it to shrink.

It is so nice to buy something made in America and to know it is well made. My brother-in-law gave me my first cap and I have bought six since then. I love to have different caps for different looks. Well Done my Friends.

I bought the ottowa rancher last fall 2023, I have tried to wear it hunting but it keeps riding up on my head and the fit seems tight. I measured my head and ordered accordingly. I'm going to give it away. I irritates me to no end. Hate the fit. ~ Hi Gary, We're sorry the fit isn't quite right.. For the future, we do offer exchanges on our items within our return guidelines which is new/unworn with tags attached with 90 days of purchase. SK~

Disappointed. Failed to keep me warm in 30-degree weather with 15 mpg wind. If I want to stay warm, I'll go back to my $10 Walmart beanie. ~ Hi Ben, We're sorry to hear our Rancher didn't keep you warm. Sizing may have something to do with this, if you'd like to chat more, you can send us an email at [email protected] SK~

Nice hat. Run small so me careful of size and measurements. Ear flaps need to be pulled forward and down to keep out wind. Takes some adjustment.. Not 360 degrees orange with flaps up so not as safe as some. Good value and well make.

The lining in the cap takes up too much space. I liked the old lining better. ~ Hi Vern, We are happy to get an exchange going for possibly a different cap as long as your current cap is new/unworn with tags attached within 90 days of purchase. Our CS team is happy to assist you at [email protected] if you have any questions. SK ~
