When the earbands are pulled down, they fully cover your ears and extend farther down the neck.

The Rancher Cap is built for people who put warmth and function first. With 200-gram Thinsulate™ insulation, fleece-lined earbands, and extended coverage, it's made for those who spend real time outdoors in the cold. Whether you're ice fishing, snow blowing, working outside, or simply refuse to let winter slow you down, the Rancher is built to keep you comfortable in harsh conditions.
No. The Rancher Cap is lined with soft cotton flannel, and the sweatband is made from a comfortable polycotton blend. The earbands are lined with fleece, so the wool outer shell never sits directly against your skin.
Use a soft tape measure to measure around your head where you like your hat to sit. Divide that measurement by 3.14 (π), then round up to the nearest 1/8. This is your Stormy Kromer hat size. If you don't have a tape measure, you can also use a piece of string and measure it against a ruler. Please remember that these hats generally do not stretch over time. If your measurement falls between sizes, or if you prefer a looser fit, we recommend sizing up.
Dry cleaning is the best way to care for your Rancher Cap. For small spills or stains, spot cleaning is often enough. If your cap gets wet from rain or snow, let it air dry naturally away from direct heat or sunlight. Never put your wool cap in the dryer, as the heat can cause it to shrink.

My second Kromer cap was a Charcoal Rancher. Not only does it look good, it’s also practical and beneficial for those cold temps. A friend/co-worker of mine whose name is Frank introduced me to Kromer caps. We used to do maintenance work in minus 10 degree freezers. I told him “Don’t you wish we’d had our Rancher Kromers back then?”

Has to be the warmest hat I own. Wind does not go through it or blow it off. A really nice fit.

Tried the original and I liked it so much that I wanted another. Man this one is awesome too!! I will use this one for when it’s real cold out and I have to be out in it. These hats are super comfortable. Made in the USA by beautiful women who take great pride in every aspect of the hat. Love this company!! Don’t buy a fake one get a real stormy Kromer it’s worth every cent and they back all their products. Highly recommended best cold weather hats on the market. It will not be my last one that’s for sure. Next up hunter orange. Thanks guy. Excellent job !!

I tried on several hats at Sherpers before I bought my first Stormy. 7 1/4" is perfect for my size 7 head. Well made hat, proud to wear it on colder days.

We Received this hat just before the Polar temperature plunge and 2 day blizzard..my husband thankfully donned the hat as part of his winter wear to push snow with his 40 year old skid steer that does not have a heat houser. It is also his daily wear as he drives semi truck transporting grain around the county. This is our 2nd hat purchase and one is always on his head this winter. I bought a rancher hat thinking it would take place of my crown cap. It’s a nice hat and nice warm but reason why I give it low rating that it’s not good for the Canadian winters. The flap keeps sliding up and not covering my ears. Would be a good hat for the fall but not cold cold weather. ~~Hi Tyson, it sounds like the fit of the cap isn't quite right. You can try untying the tie, putting the hat on and then retying. Hopefully this will help keep the earband in place when pulled down! SK~~
