  • Use a soft tape measure to measure around your head where you like your hat to sit. Divide that measurement by 3.14 (π), then round up to the nearest 1/8. This is your Stormy Kromer hat size. If you don't have a tape measure, you can also use a piece of string and measure it against a ruler. Please remember that these hats generally do not stretch over time. If your measurement falls between sizes, or if you prefer a looser fit, we recommend sizing up.

  • The Original Stormy Kromer Cap is designed for cold-weather comfort, but how warm it feels depends on the person and the conditions. Wool provides natural warmth while remaining breathable, making it a great choice for cool to cold weather. If you regularly spend extended time outdoors in extreme cold, consider one of our insulated styles or hats with longer earbands for additional warmth.

  • No. The Original Stormy Kromer Cap is lined with soft cotton flannel, and the sweatband is made from a comfortable polycotton blend. The wool outer shell provides warmth and durability, while the materials against your skin are designed for everyday comfort.

  • Simply slide your thumb between the earband and the cap, then pull the earband down over your ears. There's no need to untie or unfold anything. When you're ready, just pull it back up into place for the classic Stormy Kromer look.

  • For most people, the Original Stormy Kromer Cap's earband covers about one-half to two-thirds of the ear. Because everyone's head shape and ear placement are different, coverage will vary. If you're looking for more coverage or added warmth in extreme cold, Stormy Kromer also offers styles with longer earbands and additional insulation.

  • Dry cleaning is the best way to care for your Original Stormy Kromer Cap. For small spills or stains, spot cleaning is often enough. If your cap gets wet from rain or snow, let it air dry naturally away from direct heat or sunlight. Never put your wool cap in the dryer, as the heat can cause it to shrink.

    I live in my SK during the cold Michigan weather and dream of wearing it all summer. I keep one in my truck just in case the weather turns cool, the other stays home for more formal occasions. An SK will outlive any baseball hat you can buy and is by far warmer and a better fit. Buy one and be happy or don't and be cold and jealous! -Big Red

    I've worn and collected hats over the years, but this is by far the best one I've ever had. Works for every season, comfortable, and never gets old. I lost it for 5 days and I legitimately felt naked. Love it! -Peter

    I've never been a hat fan, but once I tried on my first Stormy Kromer, it turned me around! This hat is universal! Since it has a visor it is perfect for the harsh summer elements, but since it's wool and has ear flaps, its great in the rain and winter. It can also be used for formal and casual uses, and has a wide selection of colors. So from my advice, Get this hat! -Dan

    I just got my first Stormy Kromer 3 days ago. It's an original wool Kromer, Partridge Plaid. I have never had a better cap in my life. It fits perfectly, better than any fitted cap I've ever had. And comfort? Wow. I don't want to take it off! My kids are eyeing it jealously and asking to try it on. I don't know why I waited so long to get my first Kromer.     Back in my Air Force days, we used to refer to the eyeglasses provided by the military as "birth control glasses." Functional, but not too high style, they're now trendy. Maybe the Stormy Kromer hat has already gained that cachet. I dunno. It's admittedly nerdy and wearing it is unlikely to lead to a date with a Playboy centerfold, but it's a mighty fine hat. Well-constructed, it's a comfy baseball-style hat that has the added benefit of keeping your head warm, particularly when you pull down the earflaps. While more likely to elicit a positive reaction from a "woodsy" gal with big calves than a hot supermodel, it's a damned fine hat. I'll be keeping mine . . . and leaving it the other guys to wear sexier, less functional headgear. If you're self-assured in your masculinity and you don't want a cold head, the Stormy Kromer cap is the only choice. -MisterMike

    My whole family had a kromer, when your kromer gets old you retire it and get a new one. The kromers are very helpful when we are tapping trees for maple syrup and when we have to collect and when we are making it!!!!!!
