  • Use a soft tape measure to measure around your head where you like your hat to sit. Divide that measurement by 3.14 (π), then round up to the nearest 1/8. This is your Stormy Kromer hat size. If you don't have a tape measure, you can also use a piece of string and measure it against a ruler. Please remember that these hats generally do not stretch over time. If your measurement falls between sizes, or if you prefer a looser fit, we recommend sizing up.

  • The Original Stormy Kromer Cap is designed for cold-weather comfort, but how warm it feels depends on the person and the conditions. Wool provides natural warmth while remaining breathable, making it a great choice for cool to cold weather. If you regularly spend extended time outdoors in extreme cold, consider one of our insulated styles or hats with longer earbands for additional warmth.

  • No. The Original Stormy Kromer Cap is lined with soft cotton flannel, and the sweatband is made from a comfortable polycotton blend. The wool outer shell provides warmth and durability, while the materials against your skin are designed for everyday comfort.

  • Simply slide your thumb between the earband and the cap, then pull the earband down over your ears. There's no need to untie or unfold anything. When you're ready, just pull it back up into place for the classic Stormy Kromer look.

  • For most people, the Original Stormy Kromer Cap's earband covers about one-half to two-thirds of the ear. Because everyone's head shape and ear placement are different, coverage will vary. If you're looking for more coverage or added warmth in extreme cold, Stormy Kromer also offers styles with longer earbands and additional insulation.

  • Dry cleaning is the best way to care for your Original Stormy Kromer Cap. For small spills or stains, spot cleaning is often enough. If your cap gets wet from rain or snow, let it air dry naturally away from direct heat or sunlight. Never put your wool cap in the dryer, as the heat can cause it to shrink.

    Wore my new Stormy the first time while shoveling out from the recent winter storm. It kept my hairless head and ears warm and dry. I'm sad, however, that I didn't know about Stormy Kromer caps until I was almost 64! I was attracted to the color (Partridge Plaid), tried it on, and knew I had to have it.     Got my first stormy as a christmas gift.Wow what a great cap i can not believe what a great fit and how well these caps are made.I will be ordering more caps asap want to get a rancher and a waxed cotton too to go along with my original wool Stormy Kromer.Thanks to Stormy for putting out such a quality cap all made in the usa . -Cookie

    I bought my 1st Kromer 12 years ago and fell in love. I wear it every year all winter long and it fits the same as it did when i first bought it. My dear Wife gave me a new one for my birthday. Both caps are identical in every way except for the color. never any skimping on materials or the quality. truly a timeless product. -bruinyk

    I purchased my Rancher Stormy Kromer (better known as the Original Stormy) from Schaefer Ranchwear in New Mexico. I reside in Colorado. You betcha - I don't leave home without my Stormy. Great head protection from the cold, wind, and sun. When the wind chill gets too much, I pull down the ear protection. It's a great product with a lot of history. You see these caps worn out West all the time, especially on ranches. Cowboy hats blow away in the wind and offer no ear protection. The Stormy Kromer is the way to go. Very satisfied with my purchase. -ThreeElk
