Use a soft tape measure to measure around your head where you like your hat to sit. Divide that measurement by 3.14 (π), then round up to the nearest 1/8. This is your Stormy Kromer hat size. If you don't have a tape measure, you can also use a piece of string and measure it against a ruler. Please remember that these hats generally do not stretch over time. If your measurement falls between sizes, or if you prefer a looser fit, we recommend sizing up.

Wool provides natural warmth while remaining breathable, making it a great choice for cool to cold weather. If you regularly spend extended time outdoors in extreme cold, consider one of our insulated styles or hats with longer earbands for additional warmth.

No. The Original Stormy Kromer Cap is lined with soft cotton flannel, and the sweatband is made from a comfortable polycotton blend. The wool outer shell provides warmth and durability, while the materials against your skin are designed for everyday comfort.

Simply slide your thumb between the earband and the cap, then pull the earband down over your ears. There's no need to untie or unfold anything. When you're ready, just pull it back up into place for the classic Stormy Kromer look.

For most people, the Original Stormy Kromer Cap's earband covers about one-half to two-thirds of the ear. Because everyone's head shape and ear placement are different, coverage will vary. If you're looking for more coverage or added warmth in extreme cold, Stormy Kromer also offers styles with longer earbands and additional insulation.

Dry cleaning is the best way to care for your Original Stormy Kromer Cap. For small spills or stains, spot cleaning is often enough. If your cap gets wet from rain or snow, let it air dry naturally away from direct heat or sunlight. Never put your wool cap in the dryer, as the heat can cause it to shrink.

The hat is very warm. The ear band material is very thin, but does keep the top of the ears warm. It doesn’t accomplish as much as I thought it would, but I’m still very satisfied with the hat overall.

The build quality of these caps is inconsistent. I wear 7 5/8 in other Kromer caps. Ordered this one and it appears the headband portion is two sizes or more small. Should have returned this defect but it seemed to be stretching out. Still over the year I have realized it is just defective. the headband is too small and is stitched to larger sized crown. The earflaps don't stay down. Pull them down, move your head and they have slid back up. Also, the hat looks goofy. Due to the tight headband and large crown it looks something like a poofy mushroom cap. Not what I desired. Be advised that it is hard for a local labor market to compete with the global labor market. Have often considered SK as an iconic piece of outdoor gear and finally pulled the trigger, and just in time for several single digit and below zero days. The Brown stormy Kormer cap looked great in the pictures but not in real life. It fits well, it's warm. it's just that tan binding makes it look odd.
