  • Use a soft tape measure to measure around your head where you like your hat to sit. Divide that measurement by 3.14 (π), then round up to the nearest 1/8. This is your Stormy Kromer hat size. If you don't have a tape measure, you can also use a piece of string and measure it against a ruler. Please remember that these hats generally do not stretch over time. If your measurement falls between sizes, or if you prefer a looser fit, we recommend sizing up.

  • The Original Stormy Kromer Cap is designed for cold-weather comfort, but how warm it feels depends on the person and the conditions. Wool provides natural warmth while remaining breathable, making it a great choice for cool to cold weather. If you regularly spend extended time outdoors in extreme cold, consider one of our insulated styles or hats with longer earbands for additional warmth.

  • No. The Original Stormy Kromer Cap is lined with soft cotton flannel, and the sweatband is made from a comfortable polycotton blend. The wool outer shell provides warmth and durability, while the materials against your skin are designed for everyday comfort.

  • Simply slide your thumb between the earband and the cap, then pull the earband down over your ears. There's no need to untie or unfold anything. When you're ready, just pull it back up into place for the classic Stormy Kromer look.

  • For most people, the Original Stormy Kromer Cap's earband covers about one-half to two-thirds of the ear. Because everyone's head shape and ear placement are different, coverage will vary. If you're looking for more coverage or added warmth in extreme cold, Stormy Kromer also offers styles with longer earbands and additional insulation.

  • Dry cleaning is the best way to care for your Original Stormy Kromer Cap. For small spills or stains, spot cleaning is often enough. If your cap gets wet from rain or snow, let it air dry naturally away from direct heat or sunlight. Never put your wool cap in the dryer, as the heat can cause it to shrink.

    I absolutely LOVE my cap...I did however order the gray/black plaid men's cap to match the gray/black critter cap so we can be the Dynamic Duo. Oops, I got the gray solid mens and had to check the packing list to see what was sent/ordered. I did order the correct color but put on the all gray and decided to keep it. Being the busiest time of year for shopping and shipping...it's more of a hassle to return/reship my cap. The website was user-friendly. Shipping easy to track and on time. Excellent quality/value of products. AND my beagle turns heads with the KritterKap. I'm not gonna raise a fuss over this glitch; but, instead still praise your quality company. I'm 100% satisfied.     I followed the directions on the web site to determine a proper size but it is too small to wear comfortably. I assume the hats are fitted this way so they won't blow of in strong winds but it is just too uncomfortable for me. ~~ Sorry to hear your cap doesn't fit the way you expected.     Pretty nice hat. I wish the ear flap was a 1/2” longer. Really comfortable when the flap is not pulled down. I bought 3 of these original Stormy Kromers. On one the ear flaps are sewed on crooked, they don’t meet in the center of the front of the hat. Not a deal breaker, but for the Price it should be. I didn’t notice it until I took the tags off, so it couldn’t be sent back. I will buy another one for the summer time. Great quality, look forward to wearing it many years.

    My son bought me this hat for my birthday while he was in northern Michigan on business. Being a native Michigander I take extra pride in this fine cap knowing it was made by a family business right here in my home state like it was when I was young. May the Lord continue to bless your family.

    Bought this hat for my husband’s birthday. It was too big but what was really disappointing was the quality of workmanship.
